Zach "Rabbit" Lopez is multi-instrumentalist who has exceeded in playing guitar, bass, upright (double) bass, and drums in many styles including, but not limited to: rock, pop, metal, punk, ska, rockabilly/psychobilly, outlaw country, and blues. Zach has many music ventures and is for hire in session/studio work for a negotiable fee.
Zachary Lopez started playing music at the age of ten when his parents bought him his first guitar. He was mostly self-taught by reading guitar magazines and studying the works of Jimi Hendrix, Randy Rhoads, and "Dimebag" Darrel Abbot.
Zach joined his first band during freshman of high school when sitting in his friend's band practice. He noticed a vacant microphone and took the position of singer and would later incorporate his guitar playing. This band did not last long.
From there, Zach would jam with other friends and their bands, majority of the time playing bass. Zach would extend his musical knowledge to the bass, being influenced by Cliff Burton and Geezer Butler. In 2012, Zach would form the band "Dawn by Nightfall", which would later be changed to "Canopus". This was his first serious band in which he would start playing shows with. However, finding long lasting drummers deemed playing consistently quite difficult. Because of this, Zach picked up the drums formed "Some Kind of Monster" (Metallica tribute band) with "Canopus" guitarist Jordan "Jew" Ibarra. Zach found this transition easy due to the fact that he wrote all the music for "Canopus". SKOM (Some Kind of Monster) would only play a few shows.
With both of his projects on hold, Zach would do something different in music. He started throwing DIY punk and metal shows in his backyard to help raise money for rent and to still have his hand in the scene. Zach would also start working with Richard Lamas and his band "Rundown Kreeps" as their roadie and merch guy. With "RDK", Zach would go on his first tour to the Pacific North West, followed by a few trips to Las Vegas for dive bar shows and a festival.
Shortly after this, Zach would see start the recording of his first EP with "Canopus". After falling out with two more drummers, these recordings were put on hold.
Currently, Zach has two active bands, "Swine" and "June Clivas & the Ditty Boys". For "Swine", Zach plays bass and plays the upright bass for "June Clivas & the Ditty Boys". Zach has a solo project in the works called "Zach Rabbit Slim & the Wreckin' Boppers" which plays rockabilly/psychobilly with a hint of ska. At this time, Zach is working on recording and releasing music for "Swine", "June Clivas", "Zach Rabbit Slim", "Canopus", and "Plaigus".
